Jennifer Antony will play Joy Mathew’s wife
It was by chance that artist and Kottayam native Jennifer Antony forayed into Malayalam films. After debuting through 10.30 am Local Call, Jennifer went on to act in a handful of Kannada and Tamil films before landing a plum role here again, in Salim Ahmed’s Pathemari, as Joy Mathew’s wife.
“Joy Mathew is Mammootty’s brother in the film, so I play Mammootty’s sister-in-law.
I feel blessed and fortunate to act with such talented and amazing actors, considering films were never part of my plan,” says Jennifer, who has lived in Bangalore all her life. Pathemari revolves around the lives of Gulf Malayalis and has Jewel Mary, Sreenivasan and Siddique in other important roles.
Jennifer is also part of the Hindi film Waiting, starring Naseeruddin Shah and Kalki Koechlin. “I play Naseeruddin Shah’s niece in the film. It is being shot in Kerala and we are on a break now,” she says and adds, “But I was always in awe of Malayalam cinema as the story and situations are true to life. I plan to do more Malayalam films.”
Jennifer is an artist by profession, with portraits and landscapes in oils and watercolour being her forte. “I am just waiting to catch up with the Biennale in Kochi,” she signs off.
