From moments of joy to sorrow and pleasure to pain, 39 amateur photographers across the city showcased their photography skills at the Youth Hostels’ Association of India (YHAI) on Friday.

With each photographer displaying three best shots as part of the photography exhibition named as Frozen Moments, the frames have been captured with interesting captions making the viewers relate to the shots.

Organised by Makings Photography, a post-production house, the fair saw a new breed of photographers from different walks of life, including K. Subrahmanyam, a retired MRO, M.V. Phani Kumar, K. Sriram, Hari Rajan, and B.R. Dattatreya. “A picture can narrate an entire story. The challenge lies in choosing the right subject that suits the theme,” said C. Seshu, one of the photographers at the venue.

A few images communicate a strong message. “The trick lies in capturing what you feel rather than what you see. And a skilled photographer knows it too well. For instance, a person views darkness as a negative element whereas a photographer views it from a different point of view, communicating a unique content altogether,” said B.K. Agarwal, fashion photographer after inaugurating the exhibition.

Right platform

Ravi Viswanadha of Makings Photography said that Vizag has a lot of talented photographers. “This kind of exhibition provides a platform for them to display their skills and come up with interesting themes. In future, we intend to organise solo and group photography exhibitions as well,” he said.

Star maker L. Satyanand shared inputs on quality photography and its significance in the domain. The exhibition will be on at YHAI till Sunday between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m.
