Rangers boss Ally McCoist admits he does not know whether he will see out the full 12 months of his notice period.

The Ibrox club announced on Monday that McCoist had offered his resignation but after talks with new chief executive Derek Llambias and chairman of the football board Sandy Easdale on Wednesday, it was announced he would remain at the helm.

I don't know if it's realistic or not but I expect it to happen because it is in the boundaries of the contract, which I look to honour.

When asked on Friday if he planned to see out the notice period set down in his one-year rolling contract, McCoist said: "Yes. Absolutely. I don't know if it's realistic or not but I expect it to happen because it is in the boundaries of the contract, which I look to honour.

Regarding his decision to hand in his resignation, he said: "I will not comment on why I have made the decision. I will keep that private.

"I've got to say the players are extremely respectful and they continue to work very hard for themselves and the club. We cannot allow that to change. I can assure everybody I am 100% committed and the Rangers supporters would expect nothing less than that.

'Business as usual'

"It's been a pretty tumultuous three years or so, but I don't think this will affect the players any more than anything else that has happened in that time. So my job is to keep the players focused on getting results; they will do that as they are good professionals.

"The most important thing is that it's business as usual. I have been focusing on training in preparation for the game tomorrow which we are really looking foward to. The last game (against Queen of the South) was not good enough and I am looking for a response against Livingston."

McCoist insists he would be sad to say goodbye to Rangers once the end finally comes, adding: "Would I miss the job? That's a good question? I would think you would have to miss the job. I don't think there is any doubt about it.

"It's been a massive, massive part of my life so you would definitely miss it. Have I enjoyed it? At times, yes."

And club captain Lee McCulloch has thrown his weight behind McCoist insisting he has the support of the players.

My job is to concentrate on the dressing room and trying to help get the players ready for the weekend.

"I have not approached the manager regarding the situation as I think my job is to concentrate on the dressing room and trying to help get the players ready for the weekend," said the defender.

"I don't know anything about the manager's situation. To be brutally honest, I know nothing about it. All I know is Ally McCoist is our manager and as long as he is we will be backing him."
