No Smoking disclaimer in Ugly's climax takes away from the narrative
It was a hard toil for Team Ugly and actor Rahul Bhatt who gave up television and took a long sabbatical. He had to wait really long to see his best work on screen. But the actor, who has known Kashyap for years before the Gangs of Wasseypur director found success and recognition, was with his director in the fight.
Bhatt told us, "I find the whole no smoking disclaimer very illogical.
We sell cigarettes and then we all smoke and then there reads a disclaimer on the scene. I personally don't believe it's the film's job. A film's job is to reflect what society is doing. Films don't make or break anything."

Recounting a notable scene in the film where the disclaimer specifically hit him, Bhatt added,"Anurag was right in doing what he did. Personally, I felt that in the intense climax scene, particularly when the character is lighting up and the whole drama has come clean, the first time the chain of events have been unraveled, that disclaimer pops up and takes away a lot from the narrative."
Rahul chuckles and mentions that he too has resented the fight because his film was stuck for long enough. With a painful smile, he signs off saying, "I was with him on that but sometimes I used to curse my luck, that it had to happen now with this film only!"
