New Delhi: Japanese bikemaker Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) has launched the new CB Unicorn 160 in India at Rs 69,350 (ex-showroom, Delhi).

The new model is powered by an all-new carbureted and air-cooled 163cc engine that develops 14.5bhp and 14.61Nm of peak torque. The engine is mated to a 5-speed gearbox and claims to deliver best in class mileage of 62 kmpl, thanks to Honda Eco Technology (HET). The bike offers a top-speed of 106Km/h.

The bookings for the new Unicorn are now open, but deliveries will only commence by third week of January 2015.

Honda says the existing CB Trigger and CB Unicorn, will neither be discontinued, nor be updated, but will continue to be on offer with the Unicorn 160.

The new Honda CB Unicorn 160 features a muscular fuel tank and new side fenders giving that makes it look aggressive. The bike also offers an all digital instrument console, six spoke 17 inch alloy wheels, prominent grab handles, a rear saree guard and H shaped LED tail light cluster.

Front suspension is telescopic forks, while rear gets the monoshock treatment. The bike weighs 135 kgs with the stopping power assisted by 240 mm discs in the front and drum brake at the rear. Rear disc is not on offer, even as an option. Front tyre is 80/100 while the rear tyre gets 110/80.

New Unicorn competes against the likes of Suzuki Gixxer, Yamaha FZ 2.0, Apache RTR 160 and the soon to be launched Hero Xtreme Sports, and Bajaj Pulsar 160NS.

CB Unicorn 160 is Honda's fourth launch of 2014 after Activa 125, CD110 and Gold Wing.

With this launch, Honda is further strengthening its portfolio in 150cc-180cc motorcycle segment.

The bike is offered in two variants - standard and CBS. The CBS variant of the bike gets Combi-Brake System (CBS), which helps reduce stopping distance, and costs Rs. 74,414 (ex-showroom, Delhi).
