To mark the 75 birth anniversary of their founder, Adarsha Sugama Sangeeta Academy Trust is organising ‘Dr. C. Ashwath-75 Geethayana ’, a music programme to pay tribute to the composer and lyricist.

The event will be held on Sunday on the Bangalore Gayana Samaja premises on K.R. Road from 5.30 p.m. onwards. Several noted singers, including Shimoga Subbanna, Kikkeri Krishnamurthy, Srinivasa Udupa, Nagachandrika Bhat, will render songs sung and composed by late Ashwath. On the occasion, the Trust will honour singer Y.K. Muddukrishna with the C. Ashwath award, which carries a purse of Rs. 10,000 and a citation.

Dr. C. Ashwath Geethayana will also be held at Tumkur, Tiptur, Arsikere, Javagal, Kadur, Bhadravathi and Shimoga, Kikkeri Krishnamurthy, president of the Trust, announced on Tuesday.

Mr. Krishnamurthy said that the Trust plans to mould nearly one lakh artistes in Sugama Sangeetha by December 2015.
