BHOPAL: Barring state's hill station Pachmarhi where mercury dipped to freezing 0.4 degrees celsius, temperature across the state went up by a notch. Any further drop in temperatures, seen over past few days, is not likely to happen and gentle rise is expected, weatherman said.
Meteorologist at Met department, Bhopal circle, ER Chintalu said moisture incursion would lead to a slight increase in temperature, but by and large cold conditions would continue.
North-westerly winds are blowing across the state and wind speed is around 10 km per hour. The increased temperature has improved visibility during morning hours, he added. Khajuraho, Betul and Umaria remained coldest in the state with 4 degrees celsius.
Temperature in four main cities Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior and Jabalpur ranged between 2.9 degrees celsius and 6.4 degrees celsius. Minimum temperature in Bhopal was recorded at 7.2 (-4) degrees celsius against a maximum of 21.3 (-5) degrees celsius. Indore recorded a minimum temperature of 6.8 (-3) degrees celsius and maximum at 22.4 (-5) degrees celsius.
Gwalior recorded a minimum temperature of 6.4 (-1) degrees celsius and maximum of 22.9 (-1) degrees celsius. In Jabalpur, minimum and maximum temperature were recorded at 6.9 (-3) and 21.0 (-5) degrees celsius.
In forecast for Friday, weatherman said state would continue to be in grip of cold wave and a condition of ground frost will occur at a few isolated places.
