On the eve of the second anniversary of Nirbhaya, Apne Aap Women Worldwide organised an event in Connaught Place. A wall mural was also unveiled at the event attended by Meenakshi Lekhi, MP from the New Delhi Lok Sabha constituency.
A street play by Asmita Theatre Group was performed at the event and a comic book was also launched.
OF BOUQUETS AND CANDLES
Girls from the red light area of Najafgarh, along with members of various NGOs, walked to the bus stop where Nirbhaya had boarded the bus. Bouquets and candles were lit at the bus stop and the brave heart was remembered. Lekhi said, "More women are coming out and reporting cases these days, which is a positive sign. People should know that New York is the rape capital and not New Delhi."
