The Australian counterpart of Kaun Banega Crorepati, called Millionaire Hot Seat, has managed to get everyone's attention and the reason will leave you shaking your head and your jaw hanging to the floor. In this week's episode, contestant Whitney Beseler gave an answer that shall forever go down in history as the classic example of why one must ALWAYS read the question before answering.
We do understand the nervousness, and the jitter that comes from being on a national quiz show. We do, really. There are cameras everywhere, you know the show will be watched by thousands and thousands of judgmental people and most importantly you could end up changing your life by winning a heck of a lot of money.
So really, we do get why Whitney was nervous, but when you fumble on the very first question that is as basic as this - "which of these is not a piece of jewellery commonly worn to symbolise a relationship between two people?" - it is bound to get a LOT of attention on social media. The web, it seems has lost its head, body and soul, over her answer.
We know the world is full of weird proposals but has anyone ever gotten down on his knees and proposed with a BURGER RING? "Marry me, lovely lady! Accept this delish burger ring as a token of my loweeee!!" Umm...not that we know of.
May we just add that the host DID try to nudge her in the right direction by making her reconsider, but without any success. As Whitney herself declares, this is probably the most embarrassing thing to have ever happened to her.
