    Merc plans used car push in small cities

    With more number of millionaires emerging from the interiors of the country, Stuttgart-based luxury car maker, Mercedes Benz is reaching out to customers through a mobile set up in the tier-2, tier-3 cities.

    MUMBAI: With more number of millionaires emerging from the interiors of the country, Stuttgart-based luxury car maker, Mercedes Benz is reaching out to customers through a mobile set up in the tier-2, tier-3 cities.

    The German carmaker which re-launched its used car business in a new avatar, 'Mercedes Benz Certified', expects this mobility solution extended to smaller cities to pull in incremental numbers into its fold.

    Eberhard Kern, MD, Mercedes Benz India says the pre-owned car business will grow faster than the new car market in the coming years driven by tier-II and tier-III cities. "We have a lot of focus on new emerging tier-II and -III markets which have shown strong potential. In the past couple of months, we have inaugurated our state of art dealerships in emerging markets like Madurai, Kanpur, Surat, Nashik and Karnal. These markets will growth drivers for us in the foreseeable future," he said.

    The company has opened up 12 outlets in key cities of Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Pune, Mohali, and Chandigarh amongst for its pre-owned car business with 150 display bays set aside and about 100 people dedicated to the business across dealerships.
