American air strikes have killed several top leaders of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (Isil) in Iraq, the Pentagon has claimed.

Abd al Basit, the head of Islamic State's military operations in Iraq, and Haji Mutazz, a key deputy to Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the leader of the group, were among the targets who were killed.
