Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) is ready to kick some butt in ABC's new poster for Marvel's "Agent Carter." The fierce new ad was released Thursday and is the latest promo for the show's highly anticipated two-hour premiere in January.

The series picks up after the events in the 2011 movie "Captain America: The First Avenger" with Peggy returning to America from World War II. During the day, she's your typical secretary for the Strategic Scientific Reserve (SSR) but at night she completes secret missions for Howard Stark (Dominic Cooper).

In the premiere episode, Peggy has to help Stark clear his name after he's framed for unleashing deadly weapons around the world. Stark asks Peggy, the only person he trusts, to help him retrieve the weapons and sends his butler Edwin Jarvis to help her.

In the second episode, Peggy has to retrieve a deadly weapon that has fallen into the wrong hands. Time isn't on her side; she has to finish the mission for Stark before SSR Chief Roger Dooley (Shea Whigham) and Agent Jack Thompson (Chad Michael Murray) realize what she's up to.

"It's going to be very contained, intense adventure, lots of twists and turns along the way," Atwell previously said in an interview. "There isn't much time for it to breathe or become too diluted or drawn out. It's going to be a lot of adventure, a lot of action, as well as driving the plot along of this girl trying to form this better world for herself and the people around her."

"Agent Carter" kicks off on ABC with a two-hour premiere on Tuesday, Jan. 6 at 9 p.m. The series will air during the winter hiatus of Marvel's "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.," which returns March 3.
