Dumka: Suspected Maoists kidnapped two police personnel at Kushchira on Dumka-Pakur border on Thursday, sources said. The rebels also took away three rifles.
The incident happened around 6pm when three persons intercepted an SUV that was carrying local police personnel. The miscreants took away the rifles at gunpoint and tried to escape when the police personnel started chasing them.
But the miscreants, who were hiding in the forest near Bansloi river, captured two policemen.
Dumka SP Anup K Matthew said criminals might have looted the arms. When informed about the kidnapping, he said he could not say anything without making inquiring. Despite repeated attempts, Pakur SP could not be contacted. Sources said security forces have started a massive hunt in the area for the kidnappers.
