Sanjay Sinh’s son to join BJP

A senior Congress leader from the district said they 'would wait and watch how things progress'.

Alleging negligence of Amethi by Gandhi family, Anant Vikram Singh, son of Congress Rajya Sabha MP and ‘Raja of Amethi’ Sanjay Sinh, has decided to join the BJP. Expressing faith in the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Anant said he would join BJP in Lucknow on December 21, while his elder sister Mahima would do the same in California the same day.

“It is not a sudden decision, my sister and I had been contemplating on it for a long time. I have been told that BJP state president Laxmikant Bajpai and national vice president Dinesh Sharma would be present during my joining in Lucknow,” he said.

Asked why he opted for BJP, Anant said, “Amethi is called VVIP constituency in Congress but its condition has not changed for years. I am impressed with the way Modi and his team are ensuring development of different regions. With the aim to bring that development to Amethi, we decided to join the BJP”. Anant said it was too early to decide on whether he would contest or not but “one thing is for sure that I would certainly campaign for BJP”.
