HC rejects Gauran's bail plea
JAIPUR: The Rajasthan High Court on Thursday dismissed the bail application of former RPSC chairman Habib Khan Gauran who was wanted by the SOG in the Rajasthan Judicial Service (RJS) examination paper leak case.
The lower court had given him ten days' interim bail in connection with Moharram and he had moved the high court after his interim bail was not extended by the lower court.
Government pleader Virendra Tolia opposed his bail on the ground that since Gauran had not been interrogated by the SOG as he had gone underground, the details of his mobile data and the beneficiaries other than that of his daughter are yet to be ascertained.
Counsel for Gauran AK Gupta had asked for the case dairy to be presented in the court on January 6 as the police had not yet presented the CCTV footage to substantiate the charge that Gauran had entered the press to leak the question paper.
Soon after the paper leak surfaced, Gauran had gone underground. The investigation is being carried out by the SOG. It is alleged that Gauran got the RJS exam 2011 leaked for his daughter. She had secured 10th rank in the exam. According to the SOG, Gauran visited the press where the question papers were being printed on the pretext of inspection and noted down some questions in front of the press owner.
