Badlapur’s song ‘Aaj mera jee karda’ is riveting and intense

One can tell that Divya Kumar has completely taken to the character like second skin by putting himself in his shoes. Composed by Sachin Sanghvi and Jigar Saraiya, the song blends heavy metal beats to add more vigour to the song. This is certainly one of the composer-duo’s best work. Unlike their past body of work which largely had a frothy feel, this song is raw, powerful and intense.

Music plays a very important role in enticing the audience to watch an upcoming film. Apart from setting the mood of the film, songs also play a vital role in giving the viewer a peek into the story and an idea of what impact the film will have. Known for playing the chocolate boy to perfection, all Varun Dhawan needed was a crime thriller to break out of that mould and believe it or not, this song further establishes his coming of age as an actor.This song seems to have further excited people about the film as everyone at the trailer launch was awe-struck.

While it is an intense love track, it has also used hard rock and heavy metal beats which further highlights the angst Dhawan’s character endures. Despite having a slow tempo, you feel like hearing the song again. Needless to say, the lyrics by Priya Saraiya are deep and take the song a few notches higher.

If Badlapur‘s first song is one of a kind, expectations are only going to soar in anticipation of what’s next in store.
