I still remember in an old interview, Amitabh Bachchan mentioned he wanted one. Until then, I never even knew that the Italian manufacturer made SUV’s. The Lamborghini LM 002 is a rare vehicle of which only 301 units were made and  one of them is about to be auctioned next month. Unveiled at the Brussels Auto Show in 1986, it was dubbed the “Rambo-Lambo”. The LM002 came with a full luxury package, including full leather trim, tinted power windows, air conditioning, and a premium stereo mounted in a roof console.

The LM002 was fitted with a 290 litre fuel tank and in order to meet the vehicle’s tire needs, Lamborghini commissioned Pirelli to create the Pirelli Scorpion tires with custom, run-flat tread designs. These were made specifically for the LM and were offered in two different tread designs, one for mixed use and the other for sand use only. These tires could be run virtually flat without risk and could handle the desert heat, the loading, and the speeds of the LM.

This 1989 Lamborghini LM002 was manufactured in March 1988 and had only two previous owners. The car has clocked 18,764 miles (30,197 km) on the odometer and still rides on its original Pirelli Scorpion tires built specifically for the LM002. Powering this Lambo is a 5167cc V12 engine with six Weber carburetors which pumps out 444 bhp transferred to all four wheels via a five-speed manual gearbox. The LM002 came fitted with independent front & rear suspension, hydraulic ventilated disc brakes on all four wheels and according to RM Auctions almost all the parts on this Lambo are original except the wood trim which has been replaced.
