CHENNAI: Murali Vijay had told TOI a few months back that he hadn't got enough chances to be dismissed as an ODI discard. Now, after a superb show in the first two Test matches in Australia, Vijay is hoping to make it to the World Cup squad.
"Vijay was very upset with his dismissal (for 99) in Adelaide but he was determined to get a bigger score at the Gabba. He also told me that his aim is to clinch a World Cup berth," former India wicket-keeper Bharat Reddy, who is Vijay's mentor, told TOI.

Former India opener and ex-chairman of selectors, Kris Srikkanth, also feels the opener is slowly closing in on the World Cup berth.
