USC defensive lineman Leonard Williams chosen most valuable player

USC All-American defensive lineman Leonard Williams was announced Wednesday night as the Trojans’ most valuable player.

The announcement was made during USC’s annual awards banquet. Players vote for the most valuable player award.

Williams, a junior, has 71 tackles, including 8 1/2 for losses. The Florida native is expected to make himself available for the NFL draft after the Trojans play Nebraska in the Holiday Bowl on Dec. 27 at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego.

Williams also was named the Trojans’ defensive lineman of the year.

Among other award winners: Tight end Randall Telfer (most inspirational); center Max Tuerk (offensive lineman of year); receiver Nelson Agholor (offensive perimeter player); linebacker Su’a Cravens (defensive perimeter); linebacker Quinton Powell (special teams); quarterback Cody Kessler (leadership and Notre Dame player of the game).

USC departs for the Holiday Bowl on Tuesday.
