Revealed: Kareena's desi avatar in Bajrangi Bhaijaan

In her next, Kareena Kapoor plays a belle from the Nawabi city with an authentic wardrobe and an attitude to match
Here's Kareena Kapoor from the sets of the Salman Khan-starrer Bajrangi Bhaijaan, the shooting of which is currently underway in Karjat. Although director Kabir Khan remains tight-lipped about her character in the film, Mirror has learnt that the actress, who was paired with Sallu earlier in Main Aur Mrs Khanna and Bodyguard, is playing a well-to-do Brahmin girl from Lucknow who moves to Delhi's Chandni Chowk.

Says a source close to the production, "In Delhi she meets Salman's Bajrangi and initially there is a conflict of ideologies.The film touches on contemporary political issues and has a girl child in a prominent role. Her presence is crucial to the plot." Kareena's costumes, designed by Manish Malhotra, have been tailored for a progressive, educated protagonist. According to the source, Kareena will sport cotton churidar-kurtas in vibrant shades of red, yellow and orange. Her character has a penchant for bright hues and there are traditional sarees too.
"She wears minimal accessories and her hair is usually pulled back in a bun," adds the source. "It's a desi look but it is different from the ethnic looks she has sported in films like Jab We Met, Bodyguard, Gori Tere Pyaar Mein and Singham Returns. This is more authentic."
Salman plays a Muslim boy from Chandni Chowk in the romantic drama . The film's first schedule started in Delhi and wrapped up on November 14. The 2015 Eid release also co-stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui.
