PUNE: Three days after an alleged pickpocket died when he fell off the Pune-Lonavla local train, the Government Railway Police (GRP), Pune region on Wednesday ordered an inquiry against four policemen to ascertain whether he was pushed out by them.
The 17-year-old from Dalvinagar in Chinchwad died under mysterious circumstances after he fell off the train at Shelarwadi railway gate on Sunday at 12.30pm.

Superintendent of police (railways) Vishwa Pansare told TOI that he has appointed deputy superintendent of police D C Sonawane to conduct an inquiry against policemen and submit its report quickly.
Pansare claimed the teen's death was an accident as he fell off the train on his own, but he has ordered an inquiry after a section of the media published reports that he was allegedly pushed by the policemen from the running train. "I will take a call after receiving a report from the inquiry officer," he added.
GRP, Pune inspector Abhay Parmar said the anti-dacoity squad was patrolling the local train after a man was brutally attacked near Kanhe Phata railway station, when it spotted four to five youths sitting on the footboard and pushing commuters entering or getting off the train.
Parmar said the cops asked them to sit inside the train, but one of them panicked and fell off from the running train. A policeman pulled the emergency chain and stopped the train. The squad arranged for an ambulance to send the boy to hospital where he was proclaimed dead by the doctors.

"The deceased had stolen a cellphone which was recovered from his possession. It belonged to a person residing at Raichur in Karnataka. We have contacted the owner, but he has refused to claim the cellphone after he learned that the person who had stolen it is dead," said Parmar.
The teenager's accomplices, who are members of a pick pocketing gang, fled after he fell. The victim's body was identified by his parents. An accidental death complaint has been registered, he added.
