NAGPUR: Shiv Sena MLA Harshvardhan Jadhav from Kannad in Aurangabad district has been booked for slapping the personal security officer of his party chief Udhhav Thackeray at a city hotel on Wardha Road, on Wednesday. The offence against Jadhav has been registered at Sonegaon police station.
Jadhav is the son-in law of Raosaheb Danve, a four-time MP from Jalna and a minister of state in Narendra Modi’s government Raosaheb Danve.

Police inspector Parag Jadhaw, an officer from the special protection unit in Nashik, was manhandled by Jadhav who was upset at being stopped from entering a close-door meeting being held by Thackeray in the presidential suite of the hotel. The incident sent shock waves as Jadhaw was in-charge of Thackeray’s inner security cordon.
According to reliable sources, even Thackeray has expressed disappointment over the incident which tantamounts to breach of his security. Cops are trying to recover the CCTV footages from the hotel which could nail the MLA who is known to have a volatile temper.
Jadhav, who earlier was elected as an MNS MLA, is learnt to have a dubious reputation of entering into arguments with cops. Sources in Aurangabad claimed that he was once taught a “tough lesson” by DCP Arvind Chawria and his men following an argument with cops.
The MLA vehemently denied the incident when TOI repeatedly asked him to clarify his stand. “I do not know why the cops are after me,” he said.
Sources stated that Thackeray, who flew into the city, addressed a meeting at the conference hall of the hotel in the afternoon. He later went up to his suite where a closed-door meeting was scheduled with some selected politicians. Jadhaw and his team, as is wont, were deployed outside the suite.

Only a few senior Sena politicians were summoned to join the confidential meeting. Jadhav tried to barge into the room when the door was opened to allow a politician in. Jadhaw stopped him as he had no instructions to let him in. The exasperated MLA then slapped Jadhaw and left the place.
Cops tried to trace Jadhav but he has remained elusive. Jadhaw registered a complaint at the Sonegaon police station. An offence under sections 353 of Indian penal code (IPC) for obstructing government official and 323 IPC for simple assault has been registered.
Senior PI PR Shah of Sonegaon police station said that the report of the incident, along with the FIR, would be sent to the assembly house and other formalities would be completed in due course for investigation purpose.
