Slew of progs to mark Panjabrao Deshmukh anniv

Amid presence of high profile political, academic and literary personalities, a slew of programmes have been organized over the 10-day celebrations, beginning December 18, of the 116th birth anniversary of Shri Shivaji Education Society founder president and first agriculture minister of India, Dr Panjabrao Deshmukh.

AMRAVATI: Amid presence of high profile political, academic and literary personalities, a slew of programmes have been organized over the 10-day celebrations, beginning December 18, of the 116th birth anniversary of Shri Shivaji Education Society founder president and first agriculture minister of India, Dr Panjabrao Deshmukh.
Giving information about the programmes at a press conference here on Wednesday, advocate Arun Shelke, president of the society, said that Vidarbha region owed a lot to the great son of the soil whose vision opened the doors of education to the wards of farmers and brought about a change in the lives of farmers.

Swami Shrikantanand, president, Ramkrishna Mutt, Pune, Dr Wasudeorao Gade, vice-chancellor, Savitribai Fule Pune University, Arjun awardee wrestler Kakasaheb Pawar, Dr Sharad Nimbalkar, ex-vice chancellor, PDKV, Akola, Shailendra Deolankar, director, IAS Training Centre, Amravati, Sadanand More, president, Akhil Bhartiya Marathi Sahitya Sammelan to be held at Ghuman in Punjab and Kiran Gitte, collector, Amravati, will be among the spiritual, academic, literary and administrative luminaries who will be enlightening the audience on various topics during the celebrations.
