KARACHI: KPT defeated Baloch FC 2-0 in their Pakistan Premier Football League (PPFL) encounter at the Dr Muhammad Ali Shah Stadium yesterday.

Captain Zafar Majeed scored the opening goal in the 13th minute as KPT led 1-0 at the interval, while Arsalan Asif sealed the win in the 53rd minute.

Despite coming out on top in the match, KPT remain in eighth place with 20 points, while Baloch FC, languishing at the bottom of the table, lost their 12th match of the season from the 15 fixtures played.

KPT manager Shah Naeem believes his side is facing the biggest drawback with the absence of key striker Muhammad, who was the highest scorer in the league last season with 27 goals.

However, his dream of repeating the same form in the 11th edition was shattered when he picked up a right-knee injury at start of the season.

“We are missing Muhammad,” Naeem told The Express Tribune. “He has been our main scorer and with him on the side we know we can surprise the opponents at any time. He will not be playing for the rest of the season since his physician has suggested a month-long break to recover from a torn tissue in his leg.”

Even with the setback, the manager believes his side can do well in the last phase of the league, and is expecting KPT to be among the top teams in the next edition as well.
