ConocoPhillips’ Global Water Sustainability Centre (GWSC) has invited four schools to the visitors’ centre of Qatar Science & Technology Park (QSTP) for educational sessions highlighting the importance of water conservation.

The initiative, which gathered around 100 students, was part of ConocoPhillips GWSC’s celebratory activities for Qatar
National Day.

The schools present during the event were Mesaieed Primary and Preparatory Independent School for Boys, Abi Ayub Al-Ansari Model Independent School for Boys, Al Khansa Independent School for Girls, and Al-Shaqab Primary
Independent School for Girls.

Attending the sessions were GWSC director Dr Zaid Chowdhury and Friends of The Environment Centre manager (FEC) Adil el-Tijani.

“It gives us great pleasure to extend our knowledge beyond the walls of GWSC’s laboratories and share our values with Qatar’s future generation on the importance of water conservation. Qatar National Day presents a great opportunity to show our commitment to the Qatari environment and celebrate the significant milestone of more than 900 students visiting the center in 2014,” Chowdhury said.

El-Tijani thanked ConocoPhillips for its ongoing support to FEC over the past six years, hoping for a continued and evolving partnership to contribute to the sustainability of Qatar’s water resources.

The speech was followed by a science performance that offered interactive and informative activities to the students. The children also had the chance to take part in cultural activities such as a traditional costume competition, puzzles, and matching desalination plants sites on a map of Qatar.
