PATNA: The dazzling sight of flags and hoops, the beats of ‘dandiya’ and drums and the power-packed martial arts display by the young students of Carmel High School (CHS) mesmerized the audience at the colourful annual function on Wednesday.
Unlike the usual functions which take place on a stage or in a hall, the CHS annual day was an open air event offering a better view to the parents and audience seated on three sides of the ground.
It was a spectacle to see the young girls march on the drum beats of ‘Sare jahan se achha’ tune with red, green and yellow flags and made different formations such as a star, wheel and the school logo.
Some of the other highlights of the programme were ‘resplendent sun’ by the junior students, welcome dance, aerobics fitness lessons ‘fit and fine’, cheer leaders drill, ‘fairies from the wonderland’, ‘pride of India’, ‘joy of Christmas’ celebrating the birth of Christ and ‘drum scrolls’. But the showstopper of the evening was the grand finale programme – Unity in diversity — which depicted various aspects of India.
The programmes were supplemented with apt background tracks, colourful clothes, accessories and props. The event was anchored by Shreya Singh, Akshita Ananya, Samvida and Shambhavi. School principal Sr M Sujata welcomed the guests and said, “We seek the constant support of parents who are our co-partners in a common vision of nurturing the future of our students.”
Art, culture and youth affairs minister Vinay Bihari and Apostolic Carmel provincial superior (Northern Province) Sr Lily D’Souza were also present on the occasion.
