Three of the Tamil actor’s flicks are ready to hit screens, but no release date for each film has been fixed yet

With Rajinikanth’s Lingaa storming the box office, all eyes are now on the other superstar Kamal Haasan’s next release. Interestingly, three films of the actor are pending for release as the respective producers are struggling to get the slots right. The three are:

Vishwaroopam 2, Uttama Villain and Papanasam.
If trade trackers are to be believed, Uthama Villain will be the first to hit screens, followed by Vishwaroopam-2 and then Papanasam.

Trade sources say Papanasam, the remake of Malayalam blockbuster Drishyam, will not release till March, 2015. While the first two films are ready to hit screens, post-production work of Papanasam is underway in Chennai. Drishyam, which was remade into Telugu and Kannada, was a hit in the respective languages.
Soon, Kamal evinced interest in the Tamil remake version and the movie was completed in a record time. The shooting was wrapped up in October itself and only a portion of the post-production work is pending.

“Unfortunately, Papanasam’s release will be delayed. As of now, the release date of Uttama Villain has not been decided. Once that is fixed, there could be relief for Papanasam,” a trade source told Mirror.
Uttama Villain was also wrapped up recently and the movie, directed by Kannada actor Ramesh Arvind, is ready to hit screens.

Incidentally, the movie was scheduled for release in December, but was postponed to accommodate Lingaa. “They need to get the right timing for the release of Uttama Villain because director Shankar’s ‘I’ is also slated for release in January. If Uttama Villain makes way for ‘I’ in January, once again the release date of Papanasam could be delayed further,” a distributor from Tamil Nadu, said.

It’s not clear when the much-awaited sequel of Vishwaroopam will release. The makers of Papanasam are clear that their movie will release before Vishwaroopam 2 releases.
Vishwaroopam 2 is produced by Aascar Ravichandran, who has also produced Shankar’s ‘I’. It is well known in the filmy circles that Vishwaroopam 2 will be released two months after I hits the theatres. “Kamal Haasan is now concentrating on promoting Uttama Villain. It is up to the producer of Papanasam to decide the release date sometime in February or March,” said another source.
In Papanasam, Kamal plays the role of the father of two girls. The star cast includes Gauthami, Asha Sharath and Niveda Thomas.
