Amid a galaxy of luminaries, actor Akkineni Nagarjuna on Wednesday said that the true spirit of his father and thespian Akkineni Nageswara Rao would rest on the premises of ANR College, Gudivada.

After unveiling a bronze statue of Mr. Nageswara Rao, who hails from Ramapuram village near Gudivada, on the college premises, Mr. Nagarjuna accompanied by his wife Amala appealed to the students of the ANR College to bring laurels to realise his father’s dreams on education front.

“The achievements of the students of the college should speak about the dreams of my father. He was not highly educated, but strove for promising better education for the needy in and around Gudivada”, said Mr. Nagarjuna. “Initially, our family did not want to encourage the idea of my father’s statue to be set up anywhere as he is still alive in our hearts. Later, we accepted the proposal to inspire the students”, he said.

On ANR’s illustrious and inspiring journey which began from Ramapuram, Mr. Nagarjuna said that his father had literally came to his soil with the installation of the statue. Mr. Nagarjuna and his sons Mr. Akhil and Naga Chaitanya also interacted with a few local elders during their visit to the ANR College.
