Ben Haenow wants to start a rock band

Ben Haenow has his sights set on starting a rock band.

'The X Factor' winner - who triumphed over Fleur East in the ITV show's final last Sunday - used to perform alongside his brother, Alex, in their band 'The Lost Audio' and is hoping he can front a group again.

"That would be my ideal, to have a band. "Coming from a background of being in a group, I think it's important to have a bunch of musicians around you where you can jump in to the studio and actually create something,” he said.

"My brother was the guitarist in our band, but we broke up in 2012 because he got tinnitus. There has been talk about getting him in. I would love to get him involved. Please make that happen."

Ben, 29, also revealed that he met up with Simon Cowell to discuss his future just hours after he won the show and hopes he can stick to his preferred genre of music.

"Before this I was into heavy rock. I don't think that's a genre that grasps a lot of people but I think I could do a rock album. You can definitely get away with doing something more edgy than a few years back,” he said.

"Me and Simon have had a small talk about it and we're definitely on the same page. He's said that it's important to get into the studio and choose the right people to work with. But I don't think Simon is going to push me to do pop stuff."

The 29-year-old ex-van driver is hoping to follow in the footsteps of former 'American Idol' contestant, Chris Daughtry who created his own successful rock band, Daughtry, but admits that he hasn't yet decided on a suitable name for the group.

"That's exactly what I'd like to do,” Ben added to The Sun newspaper's Bizarre column.

"I wouldn't want to call it Haenow. We'll brainstorm some ideas over Christmas. Ben X, maybe?"
