Sketches of accused in cheating case released

Police have released sketches of Amit Sachan of Ghatampur and Aditya of Lakhimpur, involved in ‘assisting’ candidates in UP Police Constable and Banking Services Examinations by using fraudulent means. Four members of the gang were arrested on Saturday night prior to UP Police Constable (mains) and Banking Services exams on Sunday.

KANPUR: Police have released sketches of Amit Sachan of Ghatampur and Aditya of Lakhimpur, involved in ‘assisting’ candidates in UP Police Constable and Banking Services Examinations by using fraudulent means. Four members of the gang were arrested on Saturday night prior to UP Police Constable (mains) and Banking Services exams on Sunday.
Vivek Nigam, Dheeraj Singh, Rajesh Yadav and Subodh Katiyar were arrested.
They gave details of the kingpins on the basis of which their sketches were released. Many police teams have fanned out across the state. A massive manhunt has been launched to arrest the culprits. IG Ashutosh Pandey said: "The case will be investigated properly. The absconding due will be caught soon."
Police teams have conducted raids in Lakhimpur, Kanpur Dehat, Sitapur and Lucknow but the accused have not been arrested so far. "We've questioned many people including their friends and relatives to locate their whereabouts," he said.
Sources informed that mobile phones of kingpins and coaching centre owners, besides the victims, have been put under electronic surveillance. "The location of Amit Sachan and Aditya had been traced other districts. We are scrutinising call data records (CDRs) of the mobile phone numbers of all the four accused after procuring it from service providers," a senior police official said.
