State-level cricket tournament for deaf and dumb

The Rotary Club of Bijapur Heritage to organise fourth state-level cricket tournament for deaf and dumb in Vijayapura for the first time between December 19 and 21 at Ambedkar stadium and KCP science college ground.

Informing media at a press conference here on Wednesday, President of the club, S. B. Patil said that the club wishes to encourage even the deaf and dumb people to participate in sports activities such as cricket.

He said that some 20 teams and nearly 300 players of various districts of the State were expected to participate in the tournament.

The players would be provided food and accommodation facility, the winners would be given prize money of Rs. 12,000 while the runners-up would get Rs. 6,000.

Mr. Patil said that the club had been providing aids to the disabled people for years, and said that this year, they had distributed some 10 tricycle to physically challenged people. D. Randeep, Deputy Commissioner to inaugurate the event, he said.
