He compared the pollution levels of New Delhi to Beijing. "When you land in Delhi, the smell is the same as Beijing," said Barra.

"This is due to the level of pollution," he added.

Xiaomi's Air Purifier was announced only last week. The Mi Air Purifier costs 899 Yuan in China or around Rs 9,274.

According to Xiaomi, the Mi Air Purifier has a dual fan and four air duct system, which can produce 10,000 litres of clean air. It can also clean about 99.99 per cent of the PM2.5 air particles.
