In what seems to be an unusual pairing, Soha Ali Khan has been signed on for Sunny Deol's sequel to his 1990 action drama, 'Ghayal'. The actor-director has already started shooting for the much-delayed project.

Says a source, "The story of the sequel begins where 'Ghayal' ended, so Soha is not reprising Meenakshi Seshadri's role in the original which was directed by Rajkumar Santoshi. It's an entirely new story."

Soha confirms that she is part of the project. "I am the lead heroine," she says.

Interestingly, Sunny's last few B-Town outings created more hype for his co-stars. In 'Singh Saab The Great' (2013), he was paired opposite Urvashi Rautela, then a teenager, while in 'Yamla Pagla Deewana 2' (2013) it was Australian model Kristina Akheev.

The source adds, "As 'Ghayal Returns' took years to take off and many felt it would never happen, Sunny preferred not to announce the cast with great fanfare. Instead, he opted to quietly begin the shoot." The actor was recently spotted shooting at Kala Ghoda.
