NIA officials subjected Mehdi for questioning for a few hours
BENGALURU: The officials of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) who had questioned Arif Majeed, the Mumbai resident who had gone to join IS and returned, reportedly interrogated Mehdi Masroor Biswas, the alleged handler of the ISIS Twitter acc-ount @shamiwitness.
Sources said that a team of NIA officials subjected Mehdi for questioning for a few hours on Thursday. “The NIA officials wanted to know whe-ther Arif had any cont-act with Mehdi and was he recruited to ISIS th-rough Mehdi,” a source said.
Meanwhile, police are verifying the 1.2 lakh tweets by Mehdi, of his pro-IS Twitter account @shamiwitness. Benghaluru police commissioner M. N. Reddi said that Twitter had sent them a huge data and cyber experts were analysing them.
“We have received mo-re than 1.2 lakh tweets related to @shamiwitness. The investigating team along with cyber experts are analysing them. After the analysis of the huge data is complete, we could get crucial clues about Mehdi’s involvement with IS, if any,” Mr Reddi said.
