he State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) Ministry has issued a regulation prohibiting directors of state-owned enterprises in the public transportation, airport or port service sectors from taking leave during certain holiday seasons.
The regulation, which was officially issued on Dec. 9, forbids directors of those state enterprises taking leave during the Idul Fitri, Christmas or New Year holiday seasons.
'The boards of directors of those particular state enterprises are expected to focus and concentrate on providing a quality service to the public in the realm of their responsibilities,' the regulation says.
It also states that the directors may impose similar conditions on their subordinates.
Signed by SOEs Minister Rini Soemarno, the regulation came into force as of Dec. 9, meaning that it will apply for this year's Christmas and New Year holidays.
Indonesia currently has a number of state enterprises operating in the public transportation, airport and port service sectors, including PT Garuda Indonesia, PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI), PT Angkasa Pura (I and II) and PT Pelindo (I to IV). (***)
