Mira Road police have arrested a 36-year-old man for allegedly killing his wife, a constable in Railway Protection Force (RPF). It was the autopsy which nailed the husband. The woman was found dead at their residence in Shanti Pak area in Mira Road. The couple's 8-year-old son is an eyewitness to the act.

The deceased, Shalini Patel, 35, was posted at Bhayander RPF unit. The autopsy found no injury mark on her body. It revealed that the woman had died to hemorrhage and internal injuries. The Mira Road police have arrested Shiv Kumar.

"The wife suspected Shiv Kumar of having an extra marital affair and the couple often quarreled over property issues. During one of such quarrels, the husband brutally attacked the woman. Their son is a witness to his father attacking his mom, said a Mira Road police official.

"Earlier, we had registered a case of accidental death, but after the autopsy report came out, we realised she had been killed and have arrested and booked Kumar under section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code. We are investigating further, said Dhanaji Kshirsagar, senior inspector, Mira Road police station.
