PANAJI: It was an awkward morning-after for a police sub-inspector (PSI) attached to Rajgarh police station in
Madhya Pradesh (MP) when he discovered he had lost his 9mm pistol along with five live cartridges. He and two others had gone to the flea market in Arpora to investigate a kidnapping the previous evening and spent the night in the police vehicle. He said some unknown persons committed the theft while he was asleep.
PSI
Vijay Sagarya, along with a driver and constable arrived in Goa on Saturday night to investigate the kidnapping of a minor girl that took place in the Rajgarh police station jurisdiction.
The team lost no time in Goa and headed to the Saturday night market straight away. Police said that last week a team of MP police left for Mumbai to investigate the minor girl kidnapping case. Sagarya said that when they reached Mumbai, they learnt that the kidnappers moved to Goa and after informing the senior officer, the team arrived here.
Sagarya, in his statement, said that his revolver was in his holster till his return from the market.
The police said that after visiting the market, the MP police team returned for the night to their vehicle and slept. Police added that when they woke up in the morning, the PSI found his revolver missing.
The MP police team searched for the revolver on Sunday and after failing to trace the weapon, Sagarya reached
Anjuna police station to file a theft complaint.
During the investigation, Anjuna police examined CCTV footage of the area where the vehicle was parked and found that nobody was seen near the police team’s vehicle since the previous night.
North Goa
superintendent of police
