Bigg Boss: False promises or engineered romances inside the house?

Diandra Soares and Gautam Gulati’s romance — real or fake — helped push the TRPs; but when Gautam got a wind of the fact that his canoodling was making his mother uneasy and was probably being taken too seriously outside, he backed out. He went ahead with a series of clarifications about how it was Soares’ bold attitude and there was actually nothing like what was meeting the eye.This latest chapter has joined the many romances that blossomed inside the Bigg Boss house that can either be termed fake or engineered. While contestants themselves fake their romances to gain eyeballs, rumours have been abuzz of how the show’s makers create romantic pairs and storylines for the show. We bring you a few of such romances.

Anupama Verma and Aryan Vaid
Bigg Boss Season 1 contestants Anupama Varma and Aryan Vaid looked like love birds inside the house. The inseparable duo seemed to be heading straight to the aisle from the confines of the reality show house. Post his eviction, Aryan said how he wanted to marry Anupama but soon after both were evicted from the reality show, their romance fizzled out.

Rahul Mahajan and Payal Rohatgi
Rumour mills were abuzz with the news that Rahul Mahajan and his girlfriend Payal Rohatgi were coming for the second season of Bigg Boss. Their chemistry and constant sessions in the swimming pool and massages hinted towards the fact that the two were indeed together. All seemed to be going well till Rahul decided to go ahead and propose co-contestant Monica Bedi, who promptly declined his offer.

Claudia Ciesla and Pravesh Rana
In the third season of the show, Pravesh was seen singing songs for Claudia and giving her Hindi lessons. Their constant flirting helped grab eyeballs and boost the show’s TRP. While on the show they looked closest to one another, they avoided each other after the show came to an end.
Diana Hayden and Ashutosh Kaushik
Actress and beauty queen Diana and reality show winner Ashutosh, were seen getting close to one another in the second season of the show. Whatever the two shared, fizzled out at the end of the show with both maintaining that they are nothing but good friends.

Vida Samadzai and Amar Upadhyay
The much married Amar’s flirting sessions with foreign contestant Vida, in season 5, made him the target of co-contestant Akashdeep Saigal. Akashdeep made derogatory remarks about Amar’s family and of him having an affair with Vida. At that point Amar’s family contemplated taking legal action against Akashdeep. The romance, if there was any, fizzled out as soon as the show was over.
Sana Khan and Rajev Paul
In season 6 of the show, while Rajev’s ex-wife Delnaz Irani, who he was still trying to pursue was there in the hose, he and Sana Khan were seen getting very close. Throughout the show, they were repeatedly questioned about their love triangle, something that they denied vehemently.
