As part of their Swachhata Abhiyaan, Nahar Group and Jain International Trade Organisation (JITO) cleaned up Sarvodaya Nagar in Mulund on Sunday. The cleanliness drive, supported by BMC, was spread over a stretch of 9.5 km.
Led by Sukhraj Nahar (Chairman, JITO and Nahar Group), the cleanliness drive was carried out in the presence of Bollywood celebrities, policymakers, bureaucrats and 2,000 people in Mulund.
While Additional Municipal Commissioner Sanjay Deshmukh was the chief guest of the event, MP Kirit Somaiya and MLA Sardar Tara Singh were the guests of honour. Mulund corporator Manoj Kotak and celebrities including Manisha Koirala, Mahima Chaudhary, Gulshan Grover, Shailesh Lodha (of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah fame), Pankaj Dheer and his son Nikitin Dheer, also participated in the drive. The Swachhata Abhiyaan, organised by the two institutions, takes inspiration from the much-acclaimed Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Nahar Group, which aims to hold the drive in different parts of the city, had already undertaken a Swachhata Abhiyaan at Nahar Amrit Shakti in Chandivali last month. One of the leading real estate developers from Mumbai, it has built the Amrit Shakti, a township spread on an area of 125 acres of land that accommodates over 5000 families now.
