PANAJI: Following up on the concretization of the Miramar-Dona Paula road, the government will soon concretize the St Inez road starting from the Caculo circle (pharmacy college) up to Hotel International at Tonca. Some of the adjoining roads including the road from Hotel International to Miramar will also be concretized. The project is estimated to cost over 58 crore.
The Goa state infrastructure development corporation (GSIDC) on Tuesday invited online bids for the project.

The project involves laying a two-lane concrete road from the pharmacy college roundabout till Hotel International at Tonca. The road branching out from the St Inez road towards Taleigao will also be concretized till the Madhuban complex. From here, the road connecting to the St Inez-Tonca road near the Caculo mall will also be concretized. Other connecting roads to be concretized include the road from the fire brigade headquarters till the Bal Bhavan, the road from Green Acres junction to Miramar circle via the agriculture department and the road from Hotel International to Miramar circle via Dhempe college. The total road length is 4.01km.
While the two lanes will be 8.5m wide, there will be a 3m wide third lane on the western side of the road for a cycle track. Footpaths on either side are also planned.
Sources said that this will be the third concrete road as per the holistic design of consultants LKS for Panaji. The other two roads are the Miramar-Dona Paula road, work of which is ongoing, and the Rua de Ourem road.
Sources said that laying a concrete road means it will not need maintenance for the next over 50 years. The highlight of the project will be the LED lighting on aesthetically beautiful lamp poles on the roadsides. The road will have provision for all services including electrical lines, telephone cables, water supply and sewerage. Once awarded, the project will have to be completed within 12 months.
The concretization of the Miramar-Dona Paula raised much dust as the road had just been hot-mixed. It continues to cause much hardship to commuters.
