Duo arrested for stealing Rs 2.30 lakh from stationery shop in Chennai

The Chennai police arrested two persons after they stole Rs 2.30 lakh from a stationery shop at Nungambakkam on Monday.

CHENNAI: The Chennai police arrested two persons after they stole Rs 2.30 lakh from a stationery shop at Nungambakkam on Monday.
The accused were identified as K Dilip Kumar, 29, hailing from Sembium, and J Anand Babu, 28, of Kolathur.
They entered the shop and introduced themselves as employees of an internet service provider. One of them closed the doors and locked it from inside.
They threatened shop keeper, Venkateshwara Rao, at knifepoint.
The duo took Rs 2.30 lakh from the safe and escaped on a bike.
The residents of Nungambakkam chased the duo and nabbed Dilip while Babu escaped.
Based on Dilip’s confession, police teams followed Babu and apprehended him from Chennai Central railway station.
