As the year rolls around to a close, carmakers, like every year, have come out with a slew of mouth-watering discounts in a bid to clear their year-end inventory. So, if you can look past the minor slight of purchasing a new car that could technically become a year old soon, there are plenty of cars – many of them hotsellers – up for grabs.
As also, the government’s excise sop is likely to come to an end in December. Former FM P Chidambaram had slashed excise duty for cars by 2 to 6 percent in the interim Budget till June, to support the then struggling car industry and the incumbent FM, Arun Jaitley, extended it till December.
Interestingly, in a complete role reversal from a few years, the fall in fuel prices and the narrowing of discount between petrol and diesel have resulted in cars running on the latter seeing the most discount, in an indication that they have been the most difficult to push for carmakers.
In this compilation culled from company and auto news websites, print ads and recent media articles, here are the discounts that car companies have been offering to their customers, model-wise. Note that the discounts include exchange bonuses, loyalty, free insurance, cash discounts and corporate discounts, wherever applicable, and may vary city to city.
