Week after boy mauled by dogs, 2 more attacked

Residents of Ghaziabad village claim that same pack attacked all three; have complained to district administration.

Less than a week after a seven-year-old boy was mauled to death by a pack of dogs at Sikroda village near Dasna, Ghaziabad, two more residents were injured in similar attacks on Monday.

On Monday morning, Ibrahim Tahseen was walking towards the cemetery in the village when he was attacked. He told police that there were at least 10 dogs which had attacked without warning.

The 65-year-old managed to run away from the spot, but suffered serious injuries. Police said the dogs tried repeatedly to bite his throat, but Tahseen had blocked them. “Tahseen was rushed to hospital. He had a number of bite marks, but is out of danger,” a senior police officer said.

A few hours later, in the same village, the dogs attacked Naseema. Residents rushed to the spot and drove the dogs away, police said. “She was rushed to hospital. She has now been discharged,” the officer said.

Last week, seven-year-old Shoaib was mauled by the dogs while he walking through a field to fetch water. Even though some boys from the village rushed to the field after hearing his screams, his family said the dogs ripped his throat. Shoaib succumbed to his injuries.

Festive offer

While the villagers alleged that the district administration has turned a blind eye to the repeated attacks on people by the pack, the administration claimed that action will soon be taken.

“We have spoken to local authorities and the dogs will be picked up from the village and relocated,” an official said.
