COIMBATORE: The school education department has announced the schedule for SSLC and higher secondary board exams on Monday. The higher secondary exams will begin on March 5 and the SSLC on March 19, the press release said.
The higher secondary board exams will begin on March 5 and end on March 31. Like the previous year, the school education department has provided 15 minutes prior to the exam, scheduled between 10am and 1.15pm, to read the question paper.

The first exam will be language paper I on March 5. While the exams end on March 31 for students taking biology and business mathematics as their fourth major, for students taking computer science, it will end on March 27. The language papers one and two will be held subsequently followed by English paper one and two with a two-day gap. The majors have been spaced with at least a two-day gap between each exam. Some exams have a gap of three to five days too.
The SSLC boards begin on March 19 and end on April 10. The government has slotted 10 minutes prior to the exam for students to read the question paper. Another five minutes has been allotted to verify details of each student on the answer scripts by the examiner. The exams will be held between 9.15am and 12noon.
SSLC exams also begin with the language papers, followed by English. The students will get a week-long gap between the mathematics and science papers. There is also a four-day gap between language papers I and II. Close to 9lakh students will appear for class 12 exams and around 12 lakh students will appear for the SSLC exam, a senior official of the school education department said.
