11 Of The Most Ridiculous Things Gwyneth Paltrow Is Trying To Sell Us On GOOP

The name Gwyneth Paltrow has become synonymous with fad diets, conscious uncoupling and recently, trying to sell people ridiculously expensive things that no-one ever really needs.

Since the launch of her ‘lifestyle’ newsletter and site GOOP.com in 2008, Gwyn has tried to hock us £200 plastic trays and a £250 powder that helps you poo, all under the umbrella of ‘essential’ life items.

This week, the 42-year-old has started selling £50 underwire bras that are “as neutral as a neutral t-shirt bra, but so much prettier”.

As well as overpriced underwear, Gwyneth and co really think that all these products should be on your Christmas list this year – here’s a rundown of the most bonkers and expensive items for sale on GOOP.com:

1. Bra - For when a good old Marks and Sparks white t-shirt bra just won’t do, why not splash out £50 on… a white t-shirt bra. ($80/£50) 

2. Griddle pan – Because Gwyneth doesn’t just cook her steaks on any old pan. Or at all. ($225/£143) 

3. Monique Lhuillier for GOOP top – While Monique Lhuillier is a world-renowned designer, we have to argue with the logic behind a £500 crop top. But maybe we’re just being picky. ($795/£500)

4. Kids coat – Apparently this kids parka is “so cute it hurts”. It’ll definitely hurt your bank balance, coming in at a whopping £287. ($450/£287)

5. Diamond ear jacket – No we’ve never heard of an ear jacket either but apparently the beauty of this one is it’s "so straightforward, and yet totally unexpected". And when we say one we really do mean it – one earring for £1442. ($2260/£1442)

6. London Book Set – For the friend who has everything from someone who has more money than sense, how about a set of six picture books about London for a very reasonable £437? ($685/£437)

7. Cookbook Club Books – If over £400 is a bit steep for some coffee table books, then fear not. The GOOP Cookbook Club set is a bargain at £188. ($295/£188)

8. Enamel skull pendant – According to Gwyn and co, “the moveable jaw is too cool” on this nifty trinket. For £957, we’d expect it to talk too. ($1500/£957)

9. Large catchall – GOOP has somehow managed to convince people that spending nearly £100 on a little leather box in ‘exclusive goop grey’ is a great use of our hard earned cash. ($155/£98)

10. Gold 'rad' ring – Apparently this is a “truly unique piece you’ll never want to take off”. Too right, after paying £990 for it. Also - when was the last time someone said "rad"? ($1550/£990)

11. Wooden skateboard – Okay, we take it all back. Gwyneth has done the impossible and actually created the iconic hoverboard from “Back To The Future II”, the ultimate fantasy prop that all of us not-so-secretly wish we had as a kid. Wait, what? It’s just a normal skateboard? Made of wood? For £315? FOR KIDS? ($495/£315)
