Mithoon: Indore has always showered unconditional love on me
Singer-composer Mithoon Sharma performed recently in Indore, where he spoke to us about music, and his take on lyrics used in the songs these days
Mithoon, who set the music charts on fire with his songs like Tum Hi Ho and Banjaara, was in the city recently to perform at an event. He said, “I get plenty of mails from the people of Indore showing their love for music and requesting me to come to the city.
Indore has given me lot of love over the years and it was an exciting experience to perform live for them.”

Speaking about his love for music, Mithoon said, “There are very few people in this world who are paid for doing something they actually love, and I consider myself lucky to be one of them. I always wanted to tell a story through my music and I can’t imagine myself doing anything else but making music.” Mithoon, who has composed chartbusters like Zaroorat and Baarish this year, told us, “I never considered myself a revolutionary composer. For me, music is like investing into emotions and expressing those emotions through my music.”
The composer, who wasn’t very comfortable giving live performances, is now coming out in public to perform. Sharing his experience, Mithoon said, “For the last 10 years, I am just making music. I was never comfortable coming out in public and giving live performances. But I realised in doing so, I missed the chance to experience the love of the audience. Now that I have started singing on the stage, this has given me the chance to see people crying, getting lost in the melody of my song in front of me, which is an amazing feeling.” Talking about the kind of lyrics in the songs these days, Mithoon said, “I have a voice and a message that I have to give to the society and I want to do it responsibly. I can’t imagine myself making music which in any way shows disrespect to women or is vulgar.”
