UAE's Alsa invests USD100m in expansion

(MENAFN) UAE's Alsa engineering and construction announced it is planning to spend over USD100 million in the next 18 months as part of its expansion strategy in the UAE, as it plans to start new projects on the country, Gulf News reported.

"In the UAE, the next push from our side is to get into offshore. We acquired two million square meters of land to start our work in shallow water pipe laying and fabrication," Alsa's Chief executive officer said.

The company, which did several projects in Abu Dhabi including supplying gas to Emal's aluminum smelter plant and Ruwais refinery, is mostly active in the oil and gas sector in Abu Dhabi though it is currently planning to start its operations in Kuwait and Saudi Arabia by mid-next year.

These expansion plans come after the company was awarded its biggest project earlier this year, when the Abu Dhabi Company for Onshore oil Operations (Adco) awarded it a USD300 million CO2 injection project, which will last for 25 months and comprise of constructing the facilities and pipelines to enable the first CO2 injection project of its kind in the Middle East.
