CHENNAI: A day after Tamil Nadu chief minister O Panneerselvam urged the Centre to withdraw the permission granted to Kerala for an environmental impact assessment study to construct a new Mullaperiyar dam, DMK chief on Sunday demanded that Panneer lead an all party delegation and meet Narendra Modi for action in favour of TN.
Giving permission without seeking TN’s opinion deserved to be strongly condemned, Karunanidhi said in a statement.
Quoting media reports, he said a superintending engineer of Kerala had said the Centre had also given nod for a study to build a dam across River Pambaru. Similarly CPM state secretary G Ramakrishnan and VCK leader Thol Thirumavalavan have also condemned the Centre for granting permission for study.
