Bedlam at ZP meeting

December 15, 2014 12:16 am | Updated 12:16 am IST - HYDERABAD:

A day-long general body meeting of the Mahabubnagar Zilla Parishad was marred when Alampur MLA Sampath Kumar and Achampet MLA Guvvala Balraj got into a war of words.

At the meeting, Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituency (ZPTC) member of the Congress Bhaskar regretted that there was no allocation of funds for development works in Mallakal mandal.

In response, ZP Chairman Bandari Bhaskar (TRS) said there were similar complaints from several ZPTCs belonging to the TRS. He assured that things would be streamlined very soon.

Meanwhile Alampur MLA S.A. Sampath Kumar got up and said there was no reason for members to get upset, more so when many of them belonged to the weaker sections.

Achampet MLA Guvvala Balraj (TRS) also spoke and somewhere down the line it reached a flashpoint where Mr. Sampath Kumar and Mr. Balraj hurled accusations against each other.

Collector G.D. Pridarshini intervened and asked presspersons to leave the auditorium so that things could be brought under control. Among subjects that were discussed at length were agriculture, roads and buildings and panchayati raj.

The issue of pensions too came up.
