These Bollywood actresses are seen everywhere, except on-screen

Actresses

They are referred to as actresses (as it is said once an actress, always an actress), but they have been doing everything, except acting. These B-Town girls are spotted at events, they grace magazine covers, while some even endorse products or are seen as showstoppers for fashion shows.

However, they are missing in action from the silver screen. They are pretty looking, have had dream debuts with leading filmmakers and big stars. Blame it on Lady Luck who did not smile or poor selection of roles, they now find themselves on the other end — with no film offers on hand. Some may have veered towards regional cinema, but sadly Bollywood — their true calling — does not beckon. They still manage to stay afloat either due to their liaisons or simply because they are seen around town. And they always claim to be in talks for a project. Here’s looking at some of these gals:

Nargis Fakhri

Nargis Fakhri
The US import had a dream launch in Imtiaz Ali’s Rockstar (2011) with Ranbir Kapoor as co-star. The two big names, however, did not exactly help the hottie bag offers. It took two years for Madras Cafe (2013) and Main Tera Hero this year to come her way. She did some numbers in flicks like Phata Poster Nikla Hero (2013) and Kick this year. She let go of The Shaukeens for a Hollywood offer. The latest is that she has been busy gracing magazine covers and travelling for photo shoots. That is when Nargis does not keep tongues wagging through her interactions with Uday Chopra on Twitter.

Geeta Basra

Geeta Basra
She featured in Emraan Hashmi-starrers Dil Diya Hai (2006) and The Train (2007).  Apart from some forgettable guest roles and an item number in Zila Ghaziabad, the starlet just could not find a foothold in the industry. However, her link-up with cricketer Harbhajan Singh helps her stay in the news.

Prachi Desai

The telly actress, who shot into the limelight with the soap Kasamh Se, shifted gears to the big screen with Rock On (2008) followed by Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai (2010). After Bol Bachchan (2012), she did forgettable stuff only to appear in an item song in Ek Villain  this year.

Neha Sharma

After doing South films, she moved her attention to Bollywood with Crook: It’s Good To Be Bad (2010). She went on to get some offers including Kya Super Kool Hain Hum (2012) and was last seen in Youngistaan earlier this year. Neha is meanwhile raising her oomph factor by doing hot photo shoots for magazines while the speculation about her and Jackie Bhagnani continues.

Sonal Chauhan

She made her big screen splash as Zoya in Jannat (2008) and later was in the news for refusing to be a part of Mahesh Bhatt’s Jashn. Sonal opted to be part of MF Husain’s son Owais Husain’s directorial debut Punjab 69 which never saw the light of the day. In 2011, she bagged Bbuddah Hoga Tera Baap and then came 3G (2013) during which she made more buzz for her link-up with co-star Neil Nitin Mukesh then her acting. Last heard she had headed South apart from bagging an endorsement.

Esha Gupta

Esha Gupta
Esha Gupta arrived in 2012 with three films — Jannat 2, Raaz 3D and Chakravyuh. But 2013 saw her only do an item number in Gori Tere Pyaar Mein and in 2014 she starred in Humshakals. The model-turned-actress is now rather busy attending events when not denying link-ups.

Zarine Khan

Zarine Khan
As Salman Khan’s co-star in Veer (2009), she was referred to as Fatrina due to her similarity to Katrina Kaif. Sallu had put her on a chocolate and cake diet to pile on the kilos for her role in Veer. Zarine shed the extra weight, but was only seen in an item number in Character Dheela in Ready (2011) and later in Housefull 2 (2012). Meanwhile, she did Punjabi and South films and there is a long completed film DOA: Death of Amar opposite Rajeev Khandelwal.  She is still waiting for a meaty Bollywood role.
